Childbirth is a natural process. I believe that everyone should have the information and confidence to make positive birth choices and education and empowerment are key to this.

It has always felt natural for me to help support people, women in particular, and to encourage them to know their own unique strengths and to embrace themselves as individuals.

I have always enjoyed helping others to come to know and trust in themselves and to recognise their own intuitive senses. I am a spiritual person and I believe we are all part of something much greater than ourselves. I feel particularly connected to angels and I know that they are there to protect, support, help and encourage - a bit like our own personal doulas!

I am what you may call a ‘people person’! My passion for people has taken me on quite a journey to get to where I am today. For 15 years I worked as a sales manager in the wine industry, working in Glasgow and the West Coast of Scotland. This career allowed me to meet and work with an enormous range of people and although a very different path to the one I am now on, it gave me a fantastic opportunity to hone my intuitive and teaching skills, preparing me for my doula and birth work.

Becoming a mother and going through my own personal journey was life changing, and life affirming. In many ways, I feel I have always been a ‘doula’ and helping to support other women and their families through their own journeys was a natural progression for me.

I feel there is a great need for increased awareness and more information about birth options. We, as women, need this in order to help empower us to reconnect with our rights to have the births we want.

After the birth of my daughter, I decided to change direction in my career and create my own business. I trained as a Doula (Trauma Informed) with the wonderful Kate Woods of Conscious Birthing and I embarked on combining my doula training with my artistic and spiritual sides to form my unique business, Magic Angelfish.

I believe we should never stop learning and I have continued to develop my spiritual side as it enriches me. I feel called to channel my inner ‘doula’ into all my birth work and ultimately to help others feel supported, nurtured and encouraged.
